BenqueViejoTown.com (formerly My Benque [dot] com) was created with the vision to contribute to the economic development of Benque Viejo del Carmen by creating an online presence to promote everything the town has to offer to Benqueños, tourists and those wanting to relocate and call Benque Viejo their home.
Benque Viejo del Carmen is a town with great business potential in many sectors including tourism because of its proximity to the Belize-Guatemala border where many travelers pass through everyday. However, there is very little information on the Internet about Benque Viejo del Carmen. The Benque Viejo Public Library
The history of the Benque Viejo Library started back in the 1950’s, when it was opened under the direction of the Aguallo sisters, opening twice a week. The library was later moved to the old Town Hall building. After the building burnt down in a 1970 fire, it was temporarily moved to Churchill Street until the new Town Hall was available in 1976. Mrs Judith Gonzales was the first full time librarian employed and has been working for the community at the library ever since. In 1998 Ms Miriam Valdez was employed as Library Assistant.
Benque Viejo Del Carmen Polyclinic and Ambulance
Benque Viejo del Carmen has a new polyclinic and ambulance. The inauguration was held on Wednesday, April 13th, 2011 and the citizens of Benque Viejo del Carmen embrace this well deserved and needed service.
